TOURISM PLANNING AND RESEARCH
The BEST Education Network is an international consortium of educators committed to furthering the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism. The Network accomplishes this by holding annual 3-4 day THINK TANKS at various universities around the world. During these THINK TANKS, research is presented, sustainable tourism topics are addressed, a research agenda and curriculum modules for use in undergraduate education are developed. The BEST Education Network is organized and chaired by Dr. Janne J. Liburd from the University of Southern Denmark.
Matthias Beyer has been a member of the BEST Education Network since 2008.
The International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) is a post-graduate training and research centre for responsible tourism and pro-poor tourism (tourism and poverty reduction). The ICRT also offers a post-graduate programme, “MSc in Responsible Tourism Management”.
Nicole Häusler has been Associate of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism since 2006.
The Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development near Berlin is the only institution of higher education in Germany to offer a Master’s programme in sustainable tourism management. The aim of the Master’s programme is to provide professional skills in the management of tourism organisations, tourism businesses and consulting agencies, as well as to train students to act as experts in the areas of regional development, nature reserve management, development cooperation and in environmental organisations.
Matthias Beyer and Nicole Häusler work in this programme as lecturers and reviewers.
Antipodi is a research centre and consulting company based in Trento (Italy) and focusing its activity on responsible tourism management and marketing. Our work follows the philosophy of the Cape Town Declaration on Responsible Tourism. Our mission is change management in tourism: we work with destinations and companies who are taking responsibility for change and help them designing innovative marketing solutions to become more sustainable and more competitive.

GRAPHIC AND WEB DESIGN/ COMMUNICATION
The communication agency Gröschel_Geheeb_ Responsible Branding focusses on the emerging markets of renewable energies and the key topics of sustainable corporate management and sustainable development. A pioneer in these fields, the agency had already developed the responsible branding concept as early as 2001. The agency’s service portfolio includes graphic and web design, integrated communication strategies and campaigns.

Emigrant Media is an agency specialising in media products for non-profit organizations and socially conscious businesses in Europe and worldwide. Emigrant Media delivers campaign strategies, Corporate Identity, print products, website design solutions, interactive media products, motion graphic design, as well as documentary, image and advertising films.

ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY
DecRen Water Consult (DWC) is a consulting firm specialising in decentralised sustainable water and wastewater solutions. By actively avoiding the use of fossil fuels in the selection and operation of appropriate technologies it is possible not only to reduce operating costs, but also to implement truly sustainable solutions. A decentralised approach and the integration of renewable energies in the development of water solutions are the key elements of all of DWC’s activities. In addition, DWC offers training and professional development courses, as well as the development of financing solutions.
mas|contour cooperates with DWC in the planning and technical implementation of water recycling systems in tourism facilities, and other areas.
