The BEST Education Network is an international consortium of educators committed to furthering the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism. The Network accomplishes this by holding annual 3-4 day THINK TANKS at various universities around the world. During these THINK TANKS, research is presented, sustainable tourism topics are addressed, a research agenda and curriculum modules for use in undergraduate education are developed. The BEST Education Network is organized and chaired by Dr. Janne J. Liburd from the University of Southern Denmark.

 

Matthias Beyer has been a member of the BEST Education Network since 2008.

 

 

Trainers in Tourism Network – TT Network e.V.

The German Trainers in Tourism Network is an interdisciplinary network of tourism experts for vocational education and quality assurance in tourism. The only network of its kind in Europe, the organisation works in cooperation with national and international educational institutions and other organisations operating in the fields of vocational qualification in tourism and quality management.

 

Matthias Beyer has been a member of the Trainers in Tourism Network since 2006.

GATE – Network, Tourism, Culture e. V. works in the field of sustainable tourism development. One of its primary objectives is to establish ethnological perspectives in the tourism sector to mediate between tourists and people in the destinations. GATE organises expert conferences, seminars in schools and a regular monthly meeting day which feature selected topics.

 

Nicole Häusler and Matthias Beyer have been supporters of GATE e. V. since its founding more than twelve years ago and have been members of the managing board for many years.
